Social media is fast becoming a way of life for all of us. We connect with friends and family more quickly and cheaply than ever. In this day and age long distance phone calls are becoming a charge of the past. We know more about the world around us in a blink of an eye; in fact we know when important (and not so important) events are happing virtually the second after they have happened. So, what does this mean for you and your business? Here are 3 of my top nine benefits to using social media for your business as well as some tips and tricks.

It gets you noticed

A person is searching for a product or service that they want or need. Putting ads in newspaper alone does not really tend work in today’s market. In fact, placing ads on websites alone is not enough anymore. You need to put yourself out there in more up to the minute ways such as Twitter or Facebook. Link these ads with Like and Follow buttons and boom you have a new avenue for even more people to see you through their personal and business connections to the individuals who are interested in you.

Let the world know who you are

With posts, tweets, blogs and texts you can in very short order describe your ethics, purpose, and standing as a company. How do you do this? The information you share tells a ton about you. A blurb about the company is great but people really get to know you by what you have to say. That being said, make sure your content is quality while still staying professionally personal. People like to know the individuals they are interacting with.

You can gain valuable insight and resources that once were impossible

Our business advice from the experts once came from TV, newspapers, magazines and books. Very rarely were we able to interact with these individuals. Now we attach ourselves to them and gain insight from them with actual communication. We learn directly from them and also connect with others who are seeking the same information. This connection is another way that social media has completely changed business networking. With these connections can come some great resources such as potential partners or access to other individuals whose products and /or services can enhance your business as well.
