WordPress.com, one of the largest blog services around, released its newest theme: the Retro Mac theme, on Friday. This theme lets bloggers use the old black and white appearance of the old Finder interface from the first generation Mac computers. While this theme is probably going to create a great deal of computer nostalgia for the old days, the theme is easily customizable (unlike the old clunkers!) and is easy to use.

It may look old, but it works like new; this theme gives you all of the functions you could want for a blog. You can create your own menu to replace the fallback one in the sidebar, create and upload custom header images for the space under your titles and even put in a customized background. There are also two footer areas for widgets and page template that drops the sidebar and is full-width in size. And while the original 128K Mac used 32×32 pixel icons, developers will have to create new versions from the 512×512 down to 16×16 pixels.

No matter what you choose to use your WordPress.com blog for; whether it’s for a journal, writing on events or issues, or just as a medium for getting out your emotions, this is one neat little theme you won’t want to miss. It is simple, customizable and a great way to pay your respects to the man who revolutionized the world through computers: Steve Jobs. Enjoy!
