Instagram has announced the expansion of its web version, with the addition of the feed that can finally be accessed through your desktop.
Instagram might have become popular as a mobile-only application, but since its acquisition from
Facebook, they seem to be experimenting on different paths. After the launch of the online profiles and the “war of the images” with Twitter, they feel confident enough to make another step towards the Web. They decided to allow us to access our Instagram feed through our desktops, being able to favorite or comment on images. Thus, Instagram is testing the reaction of their users, keeping in mind the possibility of expanding even more in the future. This move can be considered wise, since it increases the engagement, it addresses an even wider audience and they make their application more accessible than ever.
However, up to now, they are insisting that they are not planning to fully expand on the Web and allow us to upload pictures with filters through our desktops. After all, this would change the original idea of Instagram, wouldn’t it? But how can you abandon such an idea when you have Facebook on your side?
Instagram is a trending social network, it has created a lot of buzz during the last months and it has a significant supporter. All these signs are indicating that it will be around for quite a while and that nothing can stop it, at least for the time being.
Are you utilizing Instagram for a personal or professional use? If not, have a try. Add a picture with a nice filter, add some popular keywords and wait and see. You’ll be surprised with the amount of “hearts” (likes) you’ll receive in a few minutes!
