Well folks, this is it. The final part of a three part series on the tools for reaching your audience more effectively. So far we have discussed many different topics among them are Google, SEO, the proper use of humor and much more. For this last bit we’re going to be touching on the effectiveness of proper grammar and spelling, using jargon correctly, the use of pictures, the time of day, and the format in which is best to post your works.

Grammar is a tricky thing when it comes to writing. You want to make the piece that you’re writing look and feel as if it is the truly valid information that you know it to be and one of the best ways is to use proper grammar and spelling. If a person cannot understand what you are trying to say they will stop reading right away. The key is to check and re-check your grammar with your word processing software and to use an editor or proof reader as well. This does not have to be a big deal that costs you a lot of money. You just need to find someone to help you out; someone that you know has excellent grammar and spelling skills.

Jargon is language or phrases that are more technical in nature and that are specific to a particular discipline or area of expertise. These words may not be readily understandable to the general public. Some examples include words like mastication (chewing), diaphoretic (heavy sweating), and contraindicated (not advised). Although jargon is very useful and necessary in clinical and professional writing, if you are writing to reach the public jargon should be kept to a minimum.

Images are a great way to catch a person’s interest quickly. If you use appropriate pictures or images along with your writing you can reel in readers. The trick is to use an images that not only relate to the subject but are also appropriate for the audience you wish to reach. For instance if you are writing about children’s clothing you do not want to use a scantily clad women in the associated image.

Most computers have a great selection of clip art that you can use to help you out or you can search the web for free pictures or images – known as royalty free images or images that are free for use. There are images however that you must purchase. There are several good affordable services that you can use to find these images. You just need to figure out which method would work the best for you.

When posting your work it important to do a little research on when your posts or submissions would best be posted. This depends on your platform and the target audience you wish to reach. For article submission sites or article directories anytime is effective. With social media it is a little different. With social media you want to submit your work to be posted at a time that the majority of your audience will be using that particular media source. For example if you’re writing and marketing to business people the best time to post most likely to be early morning, midday, and early evening – the times that they will most likely have a moment or to read or comment on your post.
