It happens more often than you might think… Someone is cruising around the net reading articles and comes across one of ‘those’ types of articles. You know the ones: very poor grammar, obviously spun mechanically or by someone with no skills at all. While these may have once been able to draw a degree of ranking from the various search engines, today these are flagged as spam and/or simply ignored in the ranking system. That’s right. Your super duplicated article is killing your ranking. Thanks to some of the more current updates (think Panda & Penguin for example) Google now looks at the quality of your articles! Here’s a good example of how NOT to write an article:
“The XYZ app always provides high ranking through SEO process in search engine. In online business SEO plays a vital role for technical reputation. A good SEO is only responsible for a successful online business and creates visitors attraction. And if we discuss about 123 Company the XYZ app is the only responsible organization, which brings genuine popularity in gigantic web world. It provides most first and most crucial stage. 123 Company XYZ used SEO process includes the right key words in the content of your web pages which will bring the targeted customers to your website. This analysis requires an export and here XYZ performs as a good professional. . This will conduct an in-depth research and will shortlist keywords that invites visitors to your website.”
At first glance the article may not read too poorly. Upon closer inspection however you will find that there are grammar errors galore. Not only does it present poor sentence construction, it includes spacing errors, subject-verb agreement errors, and even uses the company and app name more often that Google may deem noteworthy. These days Google is looking for much cleaner copy with few to no errors and with no keyword stuffing at all. In fact, keyword density has taken backseat to the need for well written and informative copy.
While you do want to make sure to include keyword phrases you should do so by writing in a normal manner allowing them to fall into your text naturally without writing the text around your keywords. The following is an example of well written text:
“The XYZ app has been designed to provide high ranking in the search engines through the use of proper SEO. Search engine optimization itself is a must for online businesses seeking to establish their reputation. It can help to attract visitors and helps to ensure the success of such businesses…”
You can see how much easier the text reads and flows. You can see that the keyword phrases “XYZ app,” “SEO,” and “Search engine optimization” have been used but in a more natural manner. Once you may have been able to write copy aimed solely at building your keyword ranking and artificially raising your site up through the ranks. Thanks to algorithm changes a la Google however now writing in a high quality, natural voice is an absolute must. Happy writing!
