Technology and the use of phone apps have launched the cell phone from something you use to call and text to the most useful piece of technology most of us own. Your phone is now your camera, your ipod, your navigation device, the place where you check your email and Facebook, and on and on. Apps have changed the game.

Let’s look further into apps. What apps do you use the most on your phone? ColorNote has to be one of my favorite apps. Here are the things I use the app for:

  • Grocery List
  • To Do List
  • Clothing and shoe size of my family. Just in case I happen upon a good sale. 🙂
  • Notes for work
  • General reminders and thoughts

It is so convenient to have this in the palm of my hand, instead of carrying around lots of notes. My point is that an app can be simple and effective. You have to know your target market and what their needs are. What do your customers want? Your app could be designed to do many things, such as:

  • Ease of use for your customers to reach you
  • Scheduling appointments, as well as reminders
  • Sending customer service a message
  • Purchasing products, with ease of payment
  • Tracking delivery of purchases
  • Client reviews
  • An employee portal for communication

The functionality of an app for your company needs to be tailored to the end result for the consumer. If a customer has taken the time to download your app, they have a purpose. Know that purpose and build your app to best suit that need. Do you think an app makes smart business sense for your business?

What is your favorite app?
