As with any industry, there are trends that occur within that industry. Social Media is not an exception. As with any trend, there are really great ones that stand the test of time, and there are trends that last only a short time and then fizzle out. Here are three trends that seem to have carried over from 2013 to 2014 that look like they are here to stay.

The first trend is data which can be utilized to the nth degree! Whether you sell chairs or chains, dresses or dining tables you need to be aware of and utilize the data that your customers create. What can this data show you and how can you effectively collect and utilize it? First of all this data can teach you a great deal about your targeted audience. With the data you collect concerning your sales you can tell what products are selling. Remember though that with the comments coming in from social platforms such as Facebook, G+, LinkedIn and Twitter you can tell what your customers think of your products and services as well as what other types of things that might work to grab their interest. You can collect this data through several different means. You can have a team go through every comment and every post and then collect the data. You can also use several different analytics programs to help interpret and help you understand what the information you have collected means (which is typically much more amenable of course).

The next trend involves the use of mobile marketing. We as a society and world have embraced mobile devices. So many people now get their news primarily via mobile thus a lot of our advertising exposure comes from mobile devices. This especially true of social media and mobile devices. It is absolutely critical that you and your business or group have a mobile friendly site and are very active and engaging with your social media present. Make full use of articles, pictures and posts to peak your customers and followers interest and keep them informed on your new products and the happening of your group.

The last trend involves user reviews. This is a great source of information. This goes hand in hand with product reviews and comments. The key point is to use this information as a testimonial. Using these testimonials on your website and articles can be extremely effective. Used in combination with pictures and other media you can really grab and focus your consumer or followers. If you have a virtual or even a brick and mortar store front you can incorporate these reviews into your in store displays and other advertising. You can also use the information of what your customers think to better focus your marketing strategy.
